We would love to meet you in person, but this will have to do for now.
Our staff team is made up of normal people who are passionate about helping you go deeper in your relationship with God. They come from all different backgrounds but are committed to our common purpose: to help people connect with God, grow in their faith, and be released into their gifts.
Al is the Lead Pastor at CityChurch. While pursuing a successful business career in London, he encountered God in a powerful way and quit his job! After a mission trip to Bolivia, he spent the next 6 years in drug rehab…working with homeless addicts in London. He then trained as an Anglican minister at Oxford University, where he and his wife Niki started their first church—in their kitchen. Since coming to the U.S. to start CityChurch in 2006 with Niki and their three kids, Al has developed an insatiable appetite for BBQ, become a passionate Panthers fan, and earned a reputation for using strange English phrases in his sermons!
Niki is a speaker and writer (check out her blog at www.nikihardy.com) who trained in business and then teaching before joining Al to plant a church in Charlotte (and raise three lively children!). As a wife, mother, church leader, dog lover and cancer survivor, Niki is passionate about encouraging us all to allow God into our messy lives in a deeper way so that He can bring us hope and peace and sustain us through difficult times. A self-confessed fresh-air junkie, Niki loves to run and hike trails with her dogs Chester and Charlie, followed by afternoon tea with friends.
Ryan is our Associate Pastor. He has been in Ministry for the last twelve years and is passionate about taking people deeper as followers of Jesus. Ryan and his wife KJ have a heart for Pastoral care, counseling, and seeing Jesus’ Church become healthy and whole. Ryan in a North Carolina native and loves being outside, watching college basketball, as well as reading or working in coffee shops. He loves connecting with people either 1 on 1 or in groups, and his desire is to help people experience Jesus in whatever season of life they are in.
Lynsey is our Worship Director who we recruited to Charlotte from our sister church, St. Mary’s London, where she served for 11 years as one of the worship leaders. Her passion for music began at a young age when she began leading worship at her home church in northern England. With encouragement from her parents, also worship leaders, Lynsey soon grew in her awareness of and passion for the work of the Holy Spirit. Her desire is to see the church fully encounter Jesus and experience the complete freedom, healing, and transformation He offers as we meet him through corporate worship.
Brenda is our Director of Children and Family Ministries. She is passionate about healthy families and partnering with parents to show kids the extraordinary love Jesus has for them. She left her career in journalism to stay home with her three children, but then she felt God calling her to a vocation working with children. She’d tell you she has been on an amazing adventure ever since and loves the journey that God has been leading her on. To recharge, she enjoys taking long walks with her husband and their two dogs on the nature trails near their home.
Kieron is our Student Ministry Leader He is passionate about investing in our students and leading a team of volunteers to also walk alongside them. He particularly excels at planning wild games and activities the student group gets into when they gather. When he isn’t connecting with our middle and high school-ers, Kieron brings some peace and wellness as a massage therapist at a local clinic. Kieron is an avid road biker, soccer player, and handyman at his home.
Adam is our Operations Manager. Adam has a wealth of operational experience and eye for details and organization in this role. He has been in the CityChurch family for quite some time now and is excited to pour into the life of the church. As a native Charlottean, Adam enjoys life in his hometown with his wife, two teenagers, and his two pups, Mason & Diego. And when he gets some relaxation time, you’d most likely see him tending to his reef aquarium or enjoying a local bite at a restaurant.
