I Have Called You Friend

The Vine and the Branches is one of the best known texts in the New Testament. Jesus urges us all to ‘Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.' But we don’t often focus on what Jesus says a bit later, ‘I no longer call you servants…I have called you friends!’ It’s a remarkable statement, a glimpse of the glory we have been called into. But what exactly does it mean to be called a friend of Jesus?

From Series: "Glimpses of Glory"

A significant section of the gospel of John describes the events leading up to Jesus' death and resurrection. Along the way, we see glimpses of the glory of God revealed through his son. In this series, we highlight some of the glimpses and explain what they tell us about God and what they teach us about our discipleship.
